Cooking with Baba During Ramadan! How to Make Kunafa *Secret Ingredient*

1 1/2 boxes of Kunafa
32 oz of fresh mozzarella cheese
1 1/2 pound of butter
2 cups of unsalted pistachios
2 cups of cane sugar
Orange blossom water

1. Chop up your kunafa dough in the food processor until fine or desired texture.
2. Chop up pistachios in the food processor until almost fine.
3. Chop up mozzarella cheese in food processor to your desired texture.
4. In a small pot, combine cane sugar and 2 cups of water (or 1 cup if you want your syrup thick) and boil until sugar dissolves. Add 1 tbsp or more of orange blossom water for taste.
5. Pour chopped kunafa onto a clean surface and shape into a circle.
6. Slowly pour about 1/2 cup of the clarified butter into the kunafa dough and massage it until evenly mixed.
7. Cover a round pan with clarified butter.
8. Spread a thin layer of kunafa dough to cover the pan. This is your base layer.
9. Add the chopped mozzarella cheese on top of the kunafa dough.
10. For the final layer of kunafa dough, lightly sprinkle it on top of the cheese. It does not have to be fully covered.
11. Bake in the over for 30-35 minutes at 350F or until slightly golden on top.
12. Take out of the oven. You can flip kunafa into a separate tray if you would like.
13. Add pistachios to preference, pour syrup over entire kunafa and serve!
