Mid Hants Railway - Spring Steam Gala - Saturday 1st May 2021

0 Просмотры
The third event in as many weeks, and also a railway I haven't visited for an event in 8 years! The Mid Hants Railway put on a low key Spring Steam Gala featuring two guest locos of Western origin. Small Prairie No 5526 from the South Devon Railway, and Pannier Tank No 4612 from the Bodmin & Wenford Railway joined the home fleet to give a Western twang to the Southern line. 4612 was a late replacement for fellow Bodmin based Pannier Tank No 6435, which was sent back to Bodmin following issues with leaking tubes.

The weather on the day was a mix of sun and cloud, with a brief spell of rain in the middle of the day.

The full loco lineup was:-
| GWR 4575 Class No 5526 (courtesy of the South Devon Railway)
| GWR 8750 Class No 4612 (courtesy of the Bodmin & Wenford Railway)
| SR Schools Class No 30925 'Cheltenham'
| SR S15 No 506
| LMS 2MT No 41312*
| BR Std 4MT No 76017

*41312 was primarily in use for shunting demonstrations at Ropley, but was pressed into use following issues with 30925 and subsequently 5526.
