Tiny Toon Adventures: ACME All-Stars (Genesis) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Konami's 1994 license-based sports game for the Sega Genesis, Tiny Toon Adventures: ACME All-Stars.

Played through the story mode on the default difficulty level.

ACME All-Stars is one of three Track & Field style games Konami produced under the Tiny Toons license, alongside Wacky Sports Challenge for the SNES and Game Boy, and it's the second game based on the cartoon for the Genesis.

ACME All-Stars is a bit more grounded in reality than Wacky Sports Challenge - it features 3-on-3 basketball and soccer as the main events, with bowling, an obstacle course race, and "Montana Hitting" serving as filler activities between main events.

Soccer and basketball are pretty much the same thing from a gameplay perspective. You have buttons dedicated to shooting, to passing, and to triggering your special move, and you get a big pool of characters to chose from in the non-story modes.

It's all a lot of fun in both single and multi-player modes, and there are a load of themed stages with hazards to change things up (most are great, but Montana Max's is a bit over-the-top), and the action is often impressively fast and frantic.

In my opinion, it never quite measures up to Wacky Sports Challenge on the SNES. The variety of events, the graphics and sound, and the general flow of the gameplay in the Genesis cart fall a bit flat in comparison, but there's no question that it's still a blast to play.

And Montana Hitting! Even if it is really just Whack-a-Mole, how could you not love that name?

It really is impressive to think of just how many Tiny Toon games Konami churned out between 1991 and 1994, and nearly all of them were great, this one included.

(Anyone notice how during the second soccer match, I almost turned Plucky Duck into Tecmo Super Bowl-era Bo Jackson? I was cracking up!)
